Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are anticipated to rise in the first half due to shifts in global oil prices. According to a report, prices for petrol and high-speed diesel are set to increase by as much as Rs 9 per litre in the upcoming fortnightly review.
The projections for February suggest an upward trend influenced by the rising trajectory of international prices and import premiums, with no significant alterations in the currency exchange rate.
On the global stage, both petrol and diesel prices experienced a surge in the past fortnight, leading Pakistan's state-owned petroleum corporation to expect higher import premiums.
Additionally, there are indications that prices for kerosene and light diesel will also see an increase in the upcoming two weeks.

In the recent pricing review, the interim government lowered petrol prices by Rs 8 per litre, aligning with their commitment to alleviate financial burdens on the public.
Internationally, petrol prices rose from $83 to $89 per barrel last week, and diesel prices increased from $93 to $97 per barrel.
