Pakistanis eagerly anticipate Eid ul Adha, the annual Festival of Sacrifice celebrated by Muslims worldwide. In Pakistan, the festival is characterized by the tradition of Qurbani, or animal sacrifice, typically involving goats, sheep, cows, or camels.
Leading up to Eid ul Adha, special markets called Bakra Mandi are established in several cities, including the capital Islamabad, a couple of weeks before the festival. These Bakra Mandis are bustling with people who come to purchase animals for sacrifice.
Islamabad Cattle Markets 2024
The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation has given approval for the establishment of at least six cattle markets in the capital for Eid ul-Adha 2024. As part of this decision, three major markets will be situated in Sangjani, I-15, and I-12 areas.
Additionally, three smaller markets will be set up along Islamabad Expressway, in Bara Kahu, and at Sultana Foundation. These markets will be operational from the 1st to the 13th of Zil Hajj and will levy charges of Rs. 500 for large animals and Rs. 250 for small animals.
