The National Highway and Motorway Authority (NHMA) has introduced a new regulation effective February 5, 2024, requiring all vehicles to have M-Tag registration to access motorways.

This decision aims to streamline traffic flow by eliminating the need for toll tax payments at entry and exit points, which often lead to long queues.

To acquire an M-Tag, motorists must visit a customer care center with their vehicle registration documents and CNIC.

The requirement applies to all major motorways, including the Peshawar-Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M1), Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway (M4), and others.

In response, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) and NHMA have issued advisories to guide motorists through the process.

Here's how to obtain an M-Tag:

1. Locate a nearby booth, usually found near major toll plazas or service areas.
2. Bring your original CNIC and a copy of your vehicle's registration certificate.
3. Fill out the application form available at the booth with all the required details.
4. Submit the completed form and documents to the booth attendant for verification.
5. Upon approval, receive your M-Tag, which will be affixed to your vehicle's windshield.

Additionally, users can monitor their M-Tag status and recharge balances through the NHA's One Network mobile app.
