A-Level students in Pakistan are facing unwanted situation as Cambridge cancelled AS Level Mathematics paper due to a confirmed leak.
Students were left frustrated as a retake of AS Level Mathematics paper (9709/12) was announced, while authorities launched an investigation into the breach and promised action against those involved.
Cambridge International Education said the compromised paper will not count in final results. The examination body announced that all affected candidates will now be required to sit a replacement exam on June 9, 2026, with no additional fee imposed on students or schools.
The retake will apply across all impacted regions, while the original result announcement date of August 11, 2026, remains unchanged. Schools have been told they will receive further instructions by May 15.
Officials also launched formal investigation into how the exam material was leaked. The organization said it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible and ensure strict action is taken against them.
The board confirmed that it is actively targeting individuals and groups allegedly involved in circulating or selling fake exam papers on social media platforms.
Cambridge said that anyone found sharing leaked exam content could face severe consequences, including a permanent ban from future examinations. Officials made it clear that the integrity of the examination system is under threat and that decisive action will be taken against malpractice networks.
Candidates have been urged to remain focused on their remaining examinations despite the disruption caused by the leak.
