ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the prevailing weather pattern suggests largely dry conditions across most of the country today, while rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in specific northern and hilly areas.
The PMD’s daily forecast outlines a contrast in weather conditions while central and southern regions will remain mostly dry and warm, several areas in the north are likely to experience precipitation, with chances of strong winds and isolated thunderstorms.
In northern parts of the country, particularly Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather is expected to turn unstable. Rain, thunderstorm, and even snowfall over high mountains are anticipated in some areas. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also likely to receive scattered showers in districts such as Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Battagram, Shangla, and nearby regions.
Islamabad and Surroundings: The capital and nearby areas will see dry weather with occasional cloud cover. Kashmir and Adjoining Hills: Light to moderate rainfall, along with gusty winds and thunderstorms, is expected at scattered locations.
Gilgit-Baltistan: The region is likely to remain partly cloudy with a chance of rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall on higher altitudes.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Dry weather is forecast for most districts, although rain is expected in selected northern zones.
Upper Punjab: Cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Galiyat are likely to receive rain. Thunderstorms with strong winds may affect Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Wazirabad, and Narowal.
Balochistan: Most districts will remain hot and dry. Coastal areas such as Gwadar and Pasni may experience partly cloudy skies.
The PMD advises residents in mountainous and hilly regions to remain alert due to the possibility of sudden weather changes, particularly where thunderstorms and snowfall may affect visibility and transport conditions.
