Despite the film’s success, Deepika was judged for her voice and language skills. Reflecting on that period, she spoke about dealing with "negativity" when she first entered the industry, particularly after the release of the Singham Again trailer, where similar comments have resurfaced.
Farah Khan, the director of Om Shanti Om, also shared insights about Deepika's initial challenges. In a previous interview with Komal Nahta, Farah admitted that Deepika’s voice was "really bad then," noting that the actress’ diction needed improvement. However, she praised Deepika’s on-screen presence, saying, "Her face would light up when she used to do songs," emphasizing how expressive the actress was during musical sequences.
Farah also revealed that Deepika’s voice in the film was dubbed by another artist due to her diction issues, even though the rest of the film used sync sound. "She was doing diction classes, not very seriously. But she was doing dance class, diction class, Anupam Kher’s acting school. I enrolled her in everything," Farah said, adding, "We were properly training her."
On the professional front, Deepika will next appear in Singham Again, set to release on November 1, 2024, alongside Ajay Devgn.
