KARACHI: According to an Ipsos research study, Pakistan has achieved the top global ranking in technology adoption, driven by a strong belief among citizens that modern technology can address future challenges.
The "Ipsos Global Trends" survey, launched in Pakistan on Friday, revealed that 89% of Pakistanis agree that advanced technology is essential to solve future problems, while only 9% disagree. Ipsos Global Chief Knowledge Officer Simon Atkinson noted that "Pakistanis believe the adoption of technology is going to create more jobs instead of taking their jobs (which is a general fear in most parts of the world)."
The study, based on 50,000 interviews across 50 countries, represents 90% of the world’s GDP and 75% of the population. Conducted between February 15 and April 23, 2024, the survey found that Pakistan ranked fifth globally in artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, with 69% of respondents optimistic about AI’s potential to create more jobs. Additionally, Pakistan emerged as a leader in electric vehicle (EV) preference, with 84% supporting a shift to electric engines over oil-based vehicles.
Presented at HBL Tower in Karachi in collaboration with Brain Child Communications and Habib Bank Limited, the survey showcased key values and beliefs of Pakistanis, highlighting traditional family and religious ties, nostalgia, and material aspirations. Pakistanis prioritize physical health, express a desire for EVs, and emphasize quality customer service.
The event featured remarks from Brain Child Communications CEO Farhan Khan and a presentation by Ipsos Pakistan CEO Abdul Sattar Babar, underscoring the study’s role in guiding growth in sectors like FMCGs, media, and banking by harnessing tech, social media, and youth initiatives.
