Heatwave conditions have developed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan which would likely continue till Friday, April 18.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), high pressure has gripped the upper atmosphere of Pakistan.
A heatwave has developed across most parts of Pakistan as of Monday and is expected to continue for the next few days. Temperatures are running much higher than usual, with southern areas like Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan seeing temperatures 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal.
In northern regions including Islamabad, Central and Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, temperatures are 4 to 6 degrees above average.
In Islamabad, the highest temperature is expected to be between 34°C and 36°C on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Rawalpindi is also expected to experience similar temperatures during the same days.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather affected the twin cities and most parts of the country. Dadu was the hottest place in Pakistan, reaching a maximum temperature of 46°C, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad at 45°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at zero percent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at zero percent.
