ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to hold a public gathering in Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Day, scheduled for March 23.
According to PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, who addressed the party's protest demonstration in Islamabad, they intend to seek permission from the Deputy Commissioner of the capital city for the gathering.
Marwat stated that if their request is denied by the administration, the PTI will pursue legal recourse through the Islamabad High Court. He emphasized that their right to hold a 'peaceful' protest is protected by the constitution.
Marwat also called for the immediate release of PTI leaders and workers who were detained during the party's nationwide protests on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Sardar Latif Khosa were arrested as part of the party's demonstrations against alleged electoral irregularities in the February 8 general elections and the purported theft of the mandate. PTI supporters staged rallies across the country, including in various cities of Punjab such as Rawalpindi and Islamabad, as well as protests in Karachi, Kandhkot, and other locations.
A PTI spokesperson asserted that the nation would never accept "proven, most corrupt persons" as the president and prime minister of the country against their will.
