Similar to other crucial goods, there is a difference between the official and real market prices of mutton and beef in Karachi.
Despite no change in the official rates for Ramadan, the actual market prices of these supplies tend to rise due to increased demand. This trend is mainly noticeable with mutton and beef, as individuals favor high-protein diets during sehri and iftar.
According to the notification issued by the region management, the retail price of mutton stands at Rs1,600 per kilogram.
However, in the market, mutton is fetching prices as high as Rs2,200 per kg.
Similarly, while the official price of beef is Rs800 per kg, it is being retailed at Rs1,200 per kg in the market.
