A new documentary, Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the Friends star’s tragic death on October 28, 2023. The documentary, streaming on Peacock, reveals that Perry received 27 doses of ketamine in the last three days of his life, ultimately leading to an accidental overdose.

According to Martin Estrada, former U.S. Attorney for California’s Central District, Perry’s ketamine treatments were handled irresponsibly. “Allegedly, you have Dr. [Salvador] Plasencia providing ketamine to a live-in assistant who has no medical training whatsoever, and that live-in assistant is administering ketamine to a person whose risk factors are through the roof.” (Via PEOPLE).

Despite multiple warning signs, Dr. Plasencia allegedly continued supplying ketamine, even administering it in unauthorized locations, including a car in a Long Beach parking lot. Prosecutors claim that as Perry’s health deteriorated, Plasencia distanced himself, leaving the administration of ketamine to Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who reportedly received supplies from Jasveen Sangha, known as “The Ketamine Queen.”

On October 28, Perry reportedly requested another dose, allegedly telling Iwamasa to “give me a big one” before preparing his hot tub. When Iwamasa returned, he found Perry unresponsive.

Five individuals face charges, including Dr. Plasencia, Sangha, and Iwamasa. While three have pleaded guilty, Plasencia denies wrongdoing, claiming he was unaware of Perry’s other sources of ketamine.
