In response to multiple unfortunate incidents related to kite-flying in several cities, the Islamabad administration has enforced Section 144 to prohibit kite-flying within the federal capital's jurisdiction.
According to a spokesperson for the federal police, 24 cases have been filed against kite-flying, leading to the arrest of 56 individuals. The spokesperson also cautioned that stringent measures would be taken against those caught using metallic or chemical strings for kite-flying.
The crackdown on kite flyers has been intensified following the tragic death of 22-year-old Asif in Faisalabad. Asif lost his life due to severe blood loss after his throat was slit by a kite string while he was riding a motorcycle.
In compliance with directives from CM Maryam Nawaz, the police have apprehended the main suspect, Abid, along with his associates. According to police reports, the suspects were engaged in kite-flying activities from the rooftops of tall buildings.
Officials mentioned that various technical methods were employed to track down the suspects. Additionally, burnt kite-flying equipment was recovered from the possession of the culprits on the rooftop.
