ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zain Qureshi revealed on Monday that he went into hiding at the advice of his father, Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
In a video statement, Zain explained that his father instructed him to disappear, emphasizing that he never supported the recent constitutional amendment. He dismissed reports suggesting his endorsement of the changes as "baseless propaganda."
Zain disclosed that his father had called him to Lahore, where he is currently imprisoned in connection with another case. Shah Mehmood Qureshi strongly opposed approving the amendment, and Zain reiterated that the claims about his support were misleading.
Zain also stated that he would resign from politics if it were proven that he had met with any government official. His sister, Meher Bano Qureshi, had earlier expressed her concerns about Zain's disappearance on social media, fearing he might have been abducted.
She shared that their family had endured threats, humiliation, and abuse for over a year, aimed at breaking their principles and ideology.
Zain Qureshi, a member of Pakistan's National Assembly since February 2024, reaffirmed his stance against the constitutional amendment amidst the ongoing controversy.
