ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorm in Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan this evening.

According to the PMD, heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also likely at isolated locations. However, hot and dry weather will continue to grip most plains across the country.

During the past 24 hours, the highest temperature was recorded at 47°C in Jacobabad, Turbat, and Sibi, indicating the persistence of intense heat in southern and central regions.

Temperatures were recorded as follows: Bhakkar, Lasbela, and Hyderabad at 45 degrees; Lahore, Multan, Jhelum, and Dera Ismail Khan at 42 degrees; Peshawar and Muzaffarabad at 39 degrees; Islamabad at 38 degrees; Karachi at 37 degrees; Quetta at 34 degrees; and Gilgit at 33 degrees.
