Sindh Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced on Friday the launch of new transport projects immediately after Eid ul Fitr.
Through his official social media account, he shared, "Exciting news for the people of Sindh! Following the directives of Chairman @BBhuttoZardari, the Transport Department will kickstart new transport initiatives in Sindh right after the Eid break."
Memon outlined various objectives his department aims to achieve. He disclosed that the second phase of the Women’s Pink Bus service will commence post Eid ul Fitr. Additionally, new routes for electric vehicle (EV) buses and the Peoples Bus Service will be introduced in Karachi and Mirpur Khas.
Furthermore, Memon announced plans for the People’s Bus Service to initiate a complimentary shuttle service between the Orange Line BRT and Green Line BRT. Additionally, the government plans to expand the existing fleet of the People’s Bus Service by incorporating five hundred buses soon.
It's worth noting that in October 2023, Memon welcomed new buses for the Karachi Peoples Bus project.
Earlier, in a recent high-profile meeting in Karachi, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, holding key portfolios including excise, taxation, narcotics control, transport, and mass transit, unveiled an ambitious blueprint aimed at revolutionizing public transport connectivity in the city.
The centerpiece of this visionary plan is the integration of Karachi’s Orange and Green Lines through a network of shuttle services, set to be demonstrated shortly after Eid. This initiative represents a significant leap forward in enhancing accessibility and efficiency within the city’s public transport system.
