GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Pakistani mountaineer Abid Baig has summited the formidable Gasherbrum I, an 8,080-meter peak in Gilgit-Baltistan, without using supplementary oxygen or any support, marking a remarkable achievement.
Pakistani mountaineer Abid Baig, hailing from Hunza, has successfully summited Gasherbrum I, a towering peak also known as K5 or the "Hidden Peak," which stands at 8,080 meters (26,510 feet) in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Shigar district.
This extraordinary feat was accomplished by Abid Baig without the aid of supplementary oxygen or external support, showcasing his exceptional endurance and skill.
Before this latest triumph, Baig had already successfully conquered Broad Peak and Nanga Parbat, two other challenging 8,000-meter peaks.
The seasoned Pakistani climber has expressed his strong determination to continue ascending the world’s highest peaks, both within Pakistan and internationally, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the mountaineering community.
