The funeral prayers of Maulana Samiul Haq were offered on Saturday in his hometown of Akora Khattak. Maulana Hamidul Haq led the funeral prayers.
Thousands of supporters, politicians, and scholars attended the funeral.
Haq, 80, was assassinated in a knife attack at his residence in Rawalpindi on Friday evening.
The assailant stabbed him several times in the chest and the head before fleeing the scene.
Prayers for the slain leader were offered at the Khushal Khan Degree College ground after the body was shifted to his hometown overnight. A 65-member Afghan delegation also paid their last respects.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government also declared a day of mourning following the assassination.
