Weather update; rains, gusty winds expected in Lahore, Punjab

Rainfall and gusty winds are expected in parts of Punjab on Tuesday evening/night and Wednesday, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The prevailing weather pattern indicates continental air over most of Pakistan, with a shallow westerly wave likely to impact the upper regions of the country. While mainly hot and dry weather is anticipated in most districts of Punjab during the specified period, areas including Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, and Talagang may experience windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated rain on Tuesday evening/night.

On Wednesday, similar weather conditions are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Narowal, Bahawal Nagar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Talagang. Lahore's temperatures are predicted to range from 40-42°C on Wednesday and 41-43°C on Thursday.

Over the past 24 hours, most districts in Punjab experienced hot and dry weather, with Noorpur Thal and Bahawalpur recording the highest temperatures at 46°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature reached 43°C, with relative humidity recorded at 30 percent in the evening.
