President Zardari calls PPP lawmakers to discuss new legislation about judiciary

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has called Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members of parliament and lawyers to the Presidency to discuss the overall political situation of the country, particularly the government's new legislation and constitutional amendment regarding the judiciary reforms.

President Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilal Bhutto Zardari have left for Islamabad from Karachi to attend the meeting. The President will also host a dinner in the honour of PPP parliamentarians at 7.30pm at the President House.

Political Pundits said that the next week would be very important for the parliamentarian history when the government was about to introduce new legislation.

President Zardari, Senator Sherry Rehman and some important leaders are reaching Islamabad where the PPP lawmakers would be briefed about the government's new legislation and constitutional amendment about the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PPP-N) has also summoned its parliamentarians and directed them to reach Islamabad at every cost. However, the Muttahida Qaumi Miovement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have too started coming the federal capital.

Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will also preside over his party parliamentary meeting in Lahore on Monday (tomorrow).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also host dinner to the MPs. Tomorrow there may be an important legislative effort in the National Assembly and the Senate, sources said.

Preparations are also being made to convene a joint session of Parliament on Tuesday. The government wants to give the authority to appoint the Chief Justice to the Judicial Commission instead of seniority criteria.

The forum which approves the appointment of High Courts and Supreme Court judges should also approve the appointment of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Government Sources
