Quetta International Airport’s newly rebuilt runway has received the respected FIDIC Asia-Pacific Engineering Excellence Award at a ceremony held in Islamabad.

Officials shared that the runway was completed at a cost of around PKR 5 billion, without shutting down the airport. It is now considered one of the longest and strongest rigid runways in the region.

The award was given to the Pakistan Airports Authority and the consulting teams for their excellent planning, technical work, and strong safety record.

The first flight to land on the new runway was PIA Flight PK‑3250 from Islamabad on May 31, 2023.
