Known for his unprecedented record of 555 consecutive wins, Jahangir's journey to becoming a world champion was far from straightforward.
Despite hailing from a family deeply rooted in squash, Jahangir's path was initially fraught with challenges. He revealed that he was born with a congenital hernia, leading doctors to advise his father against him pursuing a squash career like his relatives. His mother, however, became a crucial pillar of support throughout his early life.
Jahangir underwent two surgeries, at the ages of five and twelve, to address his condition. Following his second surgery, medical professionals reiterated to his parents that his dream of playing squash was likely unattainable. Yet, his parents remained unwavering in their belief and encouragement.
Even before turning sixteen, Jahangir began his rigorous training. His dedication and hard work soon translated into remarkable success, as he started winning championship after championship. This relentless pursuit eventually propelled him to the pinnacle of the sport, establishing him as a world-class player.
Interestingly, Jahangir's doctor, who had initially discouraged his squash ambitions became an avid spectator of his matches. The doctor would often express his astonishment at Jahangir's achievements, witnessing firsthand the "miracle" of his patient defying medical predictions to become a sporting legend.
