Punjab imposes ban on public gatherings, rallies

LAHORE: Punjab Government has imposed ban on public gatherings, rallies, sit-ins, protests under Section 144.

The Punjab Home Department has issued a ban notification according to which a ban has been imposed on jalsa procession in Punjab for 3 days. The notification states that the ban will be applicable from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28.

According to the notification, a ban has been imposed to maintain law and order, protect human lives and property.

According to the spokesman of the Interior Department, the ban was applied to threats of terrorism, any public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists, the administration will ensure the implementation of the order across Punjab.

Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz on Friday approved the laptop scheme for students after a seven-year gap.

A meeting related to higher education sector reforms was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, in which the Chief Minister was briefed on the promotion of higher education, laptop and transport facility for female students.

On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz approved the laptop scheme and said that after 7 years the students of Punjab will be given the latest laptops again.
