The Punjab Government has decided to introduce the tram service in provincial capital city of Lahore to facilitate the people and beautify the city.
The approval for the project was granted in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif during her visit to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters.
DG LDA Tahir Farooq greeted her when she arrived. Senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, special assistant on political affairs Zeeshan Malik, the chief secretary, the principal secretary, and other officials attended the meeting.
The DG LDA briefed the chief ministers about working of the department, major projects and performance.
During the meeting, the chief minister approved the project related to re-modeling and beautification of MM Alam Road.
Under the project, a tram services will be launched in Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market and Hali Road areas. Furthermore, adjacent areas will also be revamped.
The chief minister also approved the plan related to signal-free corridor from Kareem block to Motorway.
