Concerns have been raised by the Livestock Department of Punjab over potential collusion within the chicken industry, allegedly orchestrated through clandestine WhatsApp groups by the so-called chicken mafia.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed serious apprehensions regarding this suspected collusion and has pledged to take stern action against those found guilty of exploiting consumers.
To address the issue, the Chief Minister has initiated rigorous measures targeting poultry farmers and traders, including the scrutiny of stock data to investigate the abrupt price hike.
Responding to the severity of the situation, the Competition Commission of Pakistan has intervened, summoning all relevant stakeholders to tackle the unprecedented surge in chicken prices.
