Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s Special Representative on Regional Affairs for Consensus on Peace Omar Daudzai arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The Afghan envoy called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and exchanged views related to the peace process in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi apprised the Afghan envoy of Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace in Afghanistan and his recent visits to the country.
The minister said that Pakistan had played a key role in the peaceful and political solution to the Afghan issue, adding that peace in Afghanistan would not only benefit the Afghan people but also the entire region.
He said Pakistan would continue to play its role in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
On the occasion, the Afghan envoy acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace in the country as well as its role in the Afghan reconciliation process, saying the time had come to resolve Afghanistan’s longstanding and serious issue through dialogue.
