Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami, Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council member, has been re-elected uncontested to his post as Speaker of Parliament.

His election is seen as recognition of Saudi Arabia’s role in serving Arab issues.

Following his election, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness the Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister of Defense, and Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir for the great support for the Kingdom's candidate for the post of Speaker of the Arab Parliament.

He went on to say that the Palestinian cause was a top priority, and during the last two years, the Palestine committee was formed and action plans were formulated to address a number of related issues, including Jerusalem, the Israeli barrier and repeated attacks against the Palestinian people.

He also said that the second important issue was combating terrorism in all its forms, pointing out that Arab communities were exposed to many threats from terrorist groups that jeopardize their security and safety.
