Amid rising global petroleum prices, the government is set to increase petrol prices in Pakistan for the third consecutive time as part of its bi-monthly revision. According to the report, petrol is expected to rise by Rs1.24 per litre, effective from February 1.
Similarly, diesel prices may increase by Rs4.49 per litre. The hike is attributed to shipping disruptions in the Red Sea and Suez Canal, increasing petroleum prices worldwide, especially in Africa and the US.
If implemented, the new petrol price will be Rs257.37 per litre, up from Rs256.13. Diesel will also see an increase, reaching Rs265.44 per litre. Additionally, kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO) are expected to rise by Rs5.93 and Rs5.05 per litre, respectively.
The continuous rise in fuel prices will likely impact transportation and overall inflation, affecting businesses and consumers across the country.
