Tamil Star Vijay Enters Politics with New Party

Tamil actor Vijay has officially entered the political arena by launching his own party, "Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam" (Tamil Nadu Victory Party). The announcement comes after leaders of the Tamizha Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) appointed him as the party chief. The actor, celebrated for his stellar performances in 68 films, is set to make his mark in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026.

Vijay, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema, has been nurturing political ambitions for over a decade. His foray into politics aligns with the tradition of stars transitioning from the silver screen to the political stage, reminiscent of the late MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa.

The newly formed party will be named "Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam," reflecting its commitment to achieving victory for Tamil Nadu. Vijay clarified that the party would not contest in Lok Sabha elections and would remain independent, refraining from supporting any other political party. This decision was reached during the party's general council and executive council meetings.

"I have decided to complete the film I have already committed to, without affecting the party work and completely involve myself in the politics of public service. I consider this as my gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu," Vijay stated, as quoted by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The actor's announcement has sparked spontaneous celebrations among his fans across the state. Vijay, known not only for his acting prowess but also for his involvement in various charitable initiatives through fan clubs, has organized programs honoring academic achievers and advocating for the importance of education.
