The federal home ministry and Delhi Police have urged people to remain calm. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the constitutional head of the state, stated that authorities have cordoned off schools in Delhi and neighboring suburbs that received the bomb threat. Search operations are underway in these areas.
The city's Fire Services reported that they dispatched fire engines to the schools but discovered nothing during their search.
"Dog squads, and bomb disposal units are also working," Mr Saxena told local media. "I want to assure the people of Delhi that Delhi Police is fully prepared and we will try to prevent any untoward incident from happening."
On X, formerly Twitter, Mr. Saxena posted a message urging parents not to panic and to cooperate with the administration "in ensuring the safety of schools and the children."
Reporters were informed by a senior Delhi Police official that some hospitals in the capital had also received similar letters on Tuesday.
Suman Nalwa, a public relations officer with the police, stated that it appeared "someone had done this to create panic."
She informed the ANI news agency, "Nothing untoward has been found so far."
Delhi's Education Minister Atishi mentioned that the government remained in touch with the police and schools and was continuously monitoring the situation.
