Israeli artillery shelling and airstrikes targeted northern, central, and southern Gaza, despite a ceasefire agreement mediated by Qatar and Egypt, which was meant to begin at 8:30 am local time (06:30 GMT). The attacks included strikes in southern Khan Younis and central Nuseirat, intensifying the ongoing 15-month conflict.

The Israeli military stated it would continue operations to "prepare for defense and attack" and would not compromise its citizens' security. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the ceasefire would not begin until Hamas provided a verified list of hostages to be released, as agreed during the mediation process. Hamas attributed the delay to "technical reasons" but reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire terms.

Meanwhile, at least three Palestinians were killed in an attack on Gaza City, and more strikes were reported across the region. Palestinians had briefly celebrated the expected ceasefire, hoping for relief from the violence.

Diplomatic sources remain optimistic about resolving the issues delaying the truce. Former Israeli ambassador Alon Pinkas suggested logistical challenges and communication breakdowns might be causing the delay but expressed confidence that the ceasefire would eventually be implemented.

As tensions continue, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, with growing calls for an urgent resolution. Mediators are working to bring both sides back on track.
