In an important statement, Canada has decided to announce a cap on international student authorities for a two-year period.

Additionally, it also announced that it will break work permits for convinced postgraduate students to address concerns about the influence of a rising figure of newcomers on the housing crisis.

According to the immigration ministry, about 360,000 study permits are expected to be accepted this year, which reflects a 35% reduction compared to last year.

Immigration Minister Marc Miller has announced that the federal government will work alongside provinces, which oversee the education system, to enforce the cap.

The minister clarified that the introduction of the cap aims to safeguard students enrolled in colleges, specifically those engaged in private-public partnerships that provide inadequate services at exorbitant costs. Furthermore, it aims to alleviate the strain on housing and services.

In a discussion with the media, Minister Miller stated, "Some private institutions have exploited international students by running campuses with insufficient resources, lacking student support, and charging steep tuition fees, all while substantially increasing their enrollment of international students."
