Key updates include the ability to run mini-apps in full-screen mode and add them to your home screen. Developers can now offer subscription plans within mini-apps, allow gift sending, and optimise performance using device hardware information like processor and RAM.
Gaming enthusiasts can enjoy expanded gestures and interfaces for games like Doom, which now support both portrait and landscape orientations and even gyro controls.
Additionally, mini-apps can generate downloadable documents and files, use device location for weather or mapping, and enable media sharing and referral codes directly to any Telegram chat. Developers also have the option to monetise their mini-apps through subscriptions and customise loading screens.
These upgrades highlight Telegram’s vision to become a super app, similar to China’s WeChat. However, challenges from Apple and Google's app store policies may pose limitations.
The update introduces exclusive perks for premium users, such as setting emoji statuses directly from mini-apps.
