The Sindh government is hoping to draw more tourists and provide new recreational activities for residents by offering water sports at Keenjhar Lake, located near Thatta District. This initiative is currently in a soft-launch phase.
In an effort to turn Keenjhar Lake into a major tourist destination, Sindh's Culture and Tourism Minister, Zulfiqar Shah, announced the trial launch of water sports activities in the area. This marks a significant step forward in the development plans.
The Sindh government had outlined ambitious plans last year in June, to build a world-class tourist centre at Keenjhar Lake with the motive to start water sports and paragliding activities in the area.
A steering committee meeting chaired by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh was pivotal in this decision. Shaikh emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Keenjhar Lake into an attractive spot for tourists.
Keenjhar Lake, spanning an area of 24 kilometres, is an ideal location for developing a modern resort and the Sindh Energy Minister stated that a suitable location is being determined for the modern resort.
A new project is underway to develop Keenjhar Lake into a major tourist destination in Sindh. This project aims to not only beautify the area but also attract both local and international visitors. The plan includes building a state-of-the-art tourist center with top-notch facilities to provide tourists with an exceptional experience.
The first step of this development plan is the introduction of water sports. By offering these activities, the government hopes to draw a steady flow of tourists, which will justify further investment in infrastructure and amenities.
