The Meteorological Department has said that the moon of Rajab is expected to be sighted on the evening of December 21, which would make Monday, December 22, the first day of the holy Islamic month.
According to the department, the Rajab moon is likely to be visible after sunset on December 21, as weather and astronomical conditions are suitable for moon sighting. This forecast points to the beginning of Rajab across the country.The Met Office stated that sunset in Karachi on December 21 will occur at 5:48 pm, while the moon is expected to appear around 6:51 pm, providing a clear opportunity for sighting.
Moonlight is expected to remain visible for about 63 minutes after sunset, which further improves the chances of seeing the moon.

Meteorological experts said the age of the Rajab moon in Karachi will be around 35 minutes at the time of sighting. Since a moon age of at least 30 minutes is generally considered suitable, the conditions are being described as favorable.
Based on these factors, the first day of Rajab is likely to be Monday, December 22. However, the final announcement will be made after confirmation through the official moon sighting process.
Rajab is one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar and has special religious importance for Muslims.
