The provincial government of Punjab has declared April 1, 2024, a public holiday for the Christian community to mark the "Day after Easter."
“It is notified for general information that a public holiday shall be observed on 15 April 2024 (Monday) on account of the “Day after Easter” only for the Christian community throughout the province,” read the notification.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's announcement of financial aid further demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting the Christian community during Easter.Each Christian family in Punjab will receive Rs. 5,000, with district administrations instructed to ensure fair and transparent distribution of these grants.
Similarly, the Sindh government has also announced public holidays for significant events.
April 1st has been declared a public holiday in Sindh to observe the "Day After Easter," extending the opportunity for the Christian community to celebrate.
Additionally, April 4, 2024, marks the 45th martyrdom anniversary of former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, commemorated with a public holiday across the province.
These announcements reflect the government's recognition of diverse religious and historical events, ensuring that communities have the opportunity to observe and celebrate their traditions.
