The federal government of Pakistan has officially banned the import of all goods to India through its land, sea, and air routes, citing national security and public interest.
This means no Indian products can now pass through Pakistani territory under any circumstances, and even items from other countries meant for India can’t transit through Pakistan.
However, the Ministry of Commerce has clarified that this ban won’t apply to shipments for which a bill of lading or letter of credit was already issued before the ban was announced.
This decision has further increased the already tense relations between Pakistan and India.
Previously, Pakistan had also stopped Indian-flagged cargo ships from entering its ports, following tensions after the Pahalgam incident. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs issued an official order and also barred Pakistani ships from docking at Indian ports.
In response, India has also imposed an immediate ban on all imports from Pakistan, citing national security reasons.
India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry released a notice stating that no goods from Pakistan can be imported or even pass through Indian territory, unless special permission is granted by the Indian government.
