During a discussion on BOL News’ program “Beopar with Arbab Jahangir,” Imran Shahid, head of Jamaat-e-Islami’s K-Electric wing, said that the management of K-Electric should be handed over to Pak Asia, a company that has both the vision and capability to run it properly.
A workshop on "Affordable Energy" was organized by Naya Daur Media in Karachi. The event highlighted major concerns including the energy crisis, increasing electricity bills, K-Electric’s monopoly, and the lack of strong government policies.
Prominent figures who attended the workshop included Junaid Naqi, President of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, former finance minister Miftah Ismail, Imran Shahid from Jamaat-e-Islami’s Electric Cell, MQM Member of Provincial Assembly Taha Ahmed Khan, and well-known journalist and environmental analyst Afia Salam. They all shared their views openly on the ongoing energy crisis.

Speaking to BOL News during the event, former finance minister Miftah Ismail said that power distribution companies must be required to clear their dues before they can take profits. Profits should not be allowed before liabilities are paid.
Imran Shahid further said that K-Electric does not even want to provide affordable electricity to the people of Karachi. He emphasized again that the control of K-Electric should be given to Pak Asia, as the company has the potential to bring much-needed improvement.
