ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday said that those responsible for the events of May 9, which saw attacks on military installations including the General Headquarters (GHQ), will face legal repercussions in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
In a video message, he affirmed that the nation will not tolerate any violation of the country's integrity or disrespect towards its heroes.
Asif emphasized that May 9 will forever serve as a reminder of how a disruptive faction, driven by ambitions for power, targeted the very essence of the nation. He stated that even Pakistan's adversaries would not dare to commit the atrocities witnessed on May 9, orchestrated by a violent group targeting military establishments and memorials of national heroes.
He condemned the premeditated nature of the attacks, describing them as unimaginable in any civilized society. Asif asserted that the Pakistani populace recognizes the individuals behind the planning, support, and execution of the May 9 incidents. He assured that the memories of the violence perpetrated on May 9 continue to haunt, and the perpetrators will face legal consequences as mandated by the law and the Constitution.
