Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans to start a pilot project using the latest "Chinese technique" for treating cancer patients.
On Thursday, CM Maryam chaired a meeting of the provincial cabinet, where key agenda items were discussed and approved, according to a press statement.
The cabinet gave the green light to send medicines and essential supplies to Parachinar, along with a mobile healthcare unit for better medical facilities.
During her visit to China, Maryam Nawaz mentioned that Chinese investors are interested in investing in Punjab. Sixty prominent Chinese companies have expressed their willingness to invest, and a China-Punjab Desk has been approved to facilitate these investments.
She further explained that China’s new cancer treatment method eliminates the need for chemotherapy. The technique uses a machine similar in size to an ultrasound, which freezes cancer tumors with liquid nitrogen.
The Chief Minister announced that a pilot project for this Chinese cancer treatment technique will soon be launched at a hospital in Punjab.
The cabinet also approved the promotion of shrimp farming and aquaculture in Punjab, along with terms and conditions for leasing government land for these projects.
Maryam Nawaz directed relevant authorities to take strong steps to promote and export shrimp farming across the province.
Additionally, an amendment to the Punjab Vagrancy Ordinance of 1958 was approved, increasing the punishment for children caught begging from one year to 10 years.
Earlier, CM Maryam expressed her concern over the rise of HIV cases in Multan, especially among dialysis patients. She called for a progress report on the situation within 24 hours and stated that halting dialysis due to lack of funds is unacceptable.
