- Federal Government replaces the IGP for AJK.

According to a notification from the Establishment Division, Abdul Jabbar, a BS-20 officer currently serving with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has replaced Dr. Sohail Habib Tajik, a BS-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).
Abdul Jabbar has been transferred and assigned to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government to serve as the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Azad Kashmir recently experienced violent clashes between the police and rights movement activists during a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike, resulting in the death of one police officer and injuries to several others. Sub-inspector Adnan Qureshi was fatally shot in the chest in Islamgarh, where he was deployed to prevent a rally organized by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
The JAAC, led primarily by traders, demanded electricity provision at hydropower generation costs, subsidized wheat flour, and an end to elite privileges. The violent protests caused damage to multiple vehicles, including a magistrate’s car on the Poonch-Kotli road. Additionally, markets, trade centers, offices, schools, and restaurants remained closed across AJK.
On May 14, the JAAC ended the protests against soaring inflation after the government accepted their demands.
The committee ended the protests after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Rs23 billion subsidy package for the people of AJK. "The government accepted all the demands of the protesters yesterday," the AAC stated.
Meanwhile, the federal government also replaced the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Operations Islamabad and transferred him to the Federal Investigation Agency.
