The increasing use of chemical sprays in agriculture to boost crop yields and protect produce has become common practice.

However, experts warn that these chemicals can pose serious risks to human health if proper precautions are not taken.

Pesticides can penetrate deep into fruits and vegetables, and consuming them without proper cleaning may lead to various health issues.

While completely avoiding exposure is difficult, experts say the risks can be significantly reduced through simple preventive measures.

According to food safety specialists, the concept of the “Clean Fifteen” highlights fruits and vegetables that typically carry lower pesticide residues. These include items like pineapple, corn, avocado, banana, and onion.

Experts recommend soaking fruits and vegetables in saltwater or vinegar solution for 15 to 20 minutes before consumption, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water. Choosing seasonal and locally grown produce is also considered a safer option.

These simple steps can help minimize exposure to harmful chemicals, reducing the risk of illness and contributing to better overall health.
