KARACHI: The Sindh government has extended the deadline for obtaining computerized vehicle number plates until August 14.

Sindh Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla stated that no fines or challans will be issued for old number plates until the new deadline. He urged citizens to transfer vehicle ownership to their names and obtain computerized number plates before August 14.

Chawla emphasized that this extension is aimed at facilitating the public and ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.

He has said that placing motorcycles under open letters (false ownership or without proper documentation) is a punishable offense.

He revealed that so far, new computerized number plates have been issued for 2 million vehicles, including 1.2 million motorcycles across the province.

The minister urged vehicle owners to regularize their documentation and obtain the official number plates before the August 14 deadline to avoid penalties.
