KARACHI: The Commissioner of Karachi on Tuesday imposed a complete ban on bathing and swimming in the Hub Canal. A notification has been issued under Section 144, effective from June 17 to July 16, 2025.

This prohibition comes in response to a rising number of drowning incidents in the canal. According to a Water Corporation Spokesperson, Section 144 has been enforced to safeguard the water supply and prevent further loss of life.

The notification also highlights that unauthorized activities around the Hub Canal pose a security threat to critical infrastructure.

Therefore a complete ban on bathing, swimming, and public gatherings around the canal is in effect from June 17 to July 16, 2025.

Authorities have also warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate the ban under Section 188.

All relevant Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to register cases against individuals found in violation of Section 144.
