Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Announces One-Week Issuance for Urgent Passports for Overseas Pakistanis

In a significant step to address the long-standing concerns of overseas Pakistanis, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared that urgent passports will now be issued within seven days. This announcement was made during Naqvi’s recent visit to Passport and NADRA centers in London, where he detailed the new policy and its implementation.

New Passport Issuance Timelines

Minister Naqvi emphasized that as per the new directive, regular passports will now be issued within a timeframe of 30 days, marking a notable enhancement from the current waiting period of around four months. Urgent passports, which previously required approximately one and a half months for issuance, will now be processed within a mere seven days. This policy will be uniformly implemented across all Pakistani missions abroad to ensure uniformity and effectiveness.

Monitoring and Accountability

In order to guarantee the prompt delivery of passports, the Interior Minister has set up a monitoring unit. This unit will be supervised by the Personal Staff Officer to the Interior Minister, ASP Shehrbano, who will oversee the process and resolve any arising issues. Minister Naqvi stressed the significance of adhering to these schedules, cautioning that stringent measures would be taken against any failure to comply.

Complaint Mechanism for Delays

Overseas Pakistanis who do not receive their passports within the designated timeframe can register complaints via email at [email protected]. This initiative is aimed at offering a direct and effective avenue for resolving complaints and ensuring accountability.

Positive Feedback from Pakistani Nationals

During his visit, Minister Naqvi interacted with Pakistani nationals at the centers, who expressed their satisfaction with the performance of NADRA. The Interior Minister commended NADRA for their efforts and assured the public of constant developments in service delivery.
