QUETTA: More than 20 children were hospitalized in Quetta’s Sariab area after reportedly consuming contaminated ice cream, health officials confirmed on Saturday.
Dr. Abdul Hadi, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta talking to the media said affected children were brought in unconscious from Killi Kechi Beg, Qambrani Road, and Bashir Chowk localities.
Medical teams are providing emergency treatment, while authorities are investigating the source of the suspected contaminated ice cream.
Dr Abdul Hadi added that preliminary reports suggest the children had eaten ice cream believed to be unfit for consumption.
Dr Abdul Hadi added that 8 children have been discharged from the hospital after initial medical relief while 12 children were still in care, but no child's condition is critical.
