The Punjab government has introduced a new condition for providing loans to individuals seeking solar panels under the Roshan Gharana Scheme.
According to sources, only active taxpayers will be eligible for these loans. The Energy Department has stipulated that borrowers must be tax filers to qualify for the loans.
The Roshan Gharana Scheme offers loans for solar panels with a convenient repayment period of five years.
However, the mandatory condition of being a tax filer does not apply to consumers using up to 200 units of electricity. For those using between 201 and 500 units, being a tax filer is a prerequisite.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to approve the Roshan Gharana Scheme in a special meeting today.
This initiative aims to help consumers install solar panels through bank loans, thereby promoting renewable energy adoption across the province.
