KARACHI: A woman was murdered by her husband in the Banaras Colony area of Orangi Town area of Karachi on Wednesday.
According to police, the body of a 40-year-old woman was recovered from a house near Sidhhi Baba Mazar in Frontier Colony No. 2. Initial investigation suggests that she was killed with a sharp-edged weapon, with fatal injuries inflicted to her neck.
According to a preliminary investigation, her husband Shoaib is involved in the murder of the woman, and a knife used in the murder has also been recovered.
Police said that 3 out of 4 children were at home at the time of the murder.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the FIR lodged at Pirabad Police Station by the victim’s brother, Pervez, the incident took place early morning around 6 a.m., when he received a call from a neighbor informing him of the murder.
The FIR states that the victim was married to a man named Shoaib 22 years ago, and had been experiencing domestic disputes for a long time. Two weeks ago, Shoaib had reconciled with his wife and brought her back home.
The complainant alleges that Shoaib slit Malikayat Bibi’s throat with a knife. Police have confirmed the domestic tension and said a murder case has been registered under relevant sections. A search for the accused is underway.
