Today, "Father's Day" is being observed across various countries, including Pakistan. This day is dedicated to acknowledging the profound greatness, immense sacrifices, and crucial role of fathers. Its primary purpose is to recognize their unique and irreplaceable position within families and society.

Globally, sons and daughters are marking the occasion by presenting gifts and expressing heartfelt love to their fathers. They extend gratitude for their tireless services and contributions to their upbringing. Those who have lost their fathers remember them by visiting graves or offering special prayers.

The initial idea for Father's Day emerged from Sonora Smart Dodd in Spokane, Washington, back in 1910. She was deeply inspired by her father, William Jackson Smart. A former American Civil War soldier, he single-handedly raised his six children after his wife passed away.

The day gained public support in 1924, and in 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson officially designated the third Sunday in June for its observance. Finally, in 1972, President Richard Nixon permanently recognized it as a national day, honoring fathers' often silent dedication and sacrifices.
