Dengue cases in Rawalpindi reach 374 as health department steps up action

Rawalpindi: The city continues to battle a rise in dengue cases, with 16 new patients reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases this season to 374, according to the Rawalpindi Health Department.

At present, 82 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the city. Health officials remain on high alert and have significantly intensified their anti-dengue operations in both residential and commercial areas.

A senior health department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted:

“Our teams are working around the clock. The public must also cooperate by eliminating stagnant water in and around their homes. Prevention is only possible with collective responsibility.”

As part of its ongoing campaign, the department has conducted extensive inspections and legal actions across the district. A total of 1,306,235 sites have been checked, with dengue larvae found and eliminated at 145,575 locations.

To enforce compliance, 3,845 FIRs have been lodged for violations of dengue prevention SOPs, and 1,677 premises have been sealed due to non-compliance. Additionally, 3,285 challans were issued, resulting in fines totaling over Rs 9.7 million.
