South Indian Actor Nagarjuna Files Defamation Suit Against Telangana Minister

Veteran South Indian actor Nagarjuna filed a lawsuit against Konda Surekha, the leader of the Telangana Congress, for her offensive remarks regarding his son Naga Chaitanya's divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The Telangana minister's comments incited outrage among the public by dragging the private issue into a political discussion.

Konda Surekha claimed that fellow politician KT Rama Rao (KTR) of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) was the reason behind Samantha and Naga Chaitanya's divorce, saying, "It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha's divorce happened. He used to tap the phones of actresses and find their weaknesses to blackmail them…Everyone knows this,” she claimed.

In defense of his ex-daughter-in-law, Nagarjuna filed criminal and civil defamation lawsuits, claiming the minister tarnished the Akkineni family's reputation. On social media, Naga Chaitanya posted a scanned copy of his father's lawsuit, expressing his displeasure at the disparaging remarks made about his family.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu also reacted strongly to the situation. Via Instagram, she urged politicians to stop using her name for political gains, stating, “Keep my name out of your political battles.”

Nagarjuna has taken significant legal action against the minister by requesting financial compensation for the harm caused by the disparaging comments.
